One of the most exciting parts of your pregnancy is getting to celebrate your pending birth with close friends and family. To me, it makes the fact that soon you’ll be holding a little bundle of joy in your arms so much more tangible. So, my dear friend planned a bunch of really special touches to my shower – she made a beautiful baby mobile and everyone wrote a message or wish to the baby and hung it with pink cotton from the wood wreath. It will be such a personalized mobile to hang above the cot. She also organized stencils, material paints and a selection of pink buttons and ribbons so guests could decorate baby grows for the new baby. They came out beautifully. My Mom made a nappy cake (not what it sounds like) filled with all sorts of baby products I wills be needing. Don’t worry – there was real cake too! It was such a laid back shower with the children playing in the garden, ladies chatting over teas, champagnes and snacks, and of course an array of baby gifts.
This time, considering I have a lot of hand me downs from Hannah, I arranged a registry from Baby City, so I got a lot of things I really needed, like bottles, toiletries, a feeding pillow, plastic bibs, toys, baby purée containers etc. but I also got some lovely gifts like adorable baby clothes, hand-made bunting flags and a Gem Gem box of goodies. I felt utterly spoilt and took such delight in packing them away into Baby’s cupboard. It was important that Hannah didn’t feel left out, so I had bought her some little gifts for the day. I am doing lots of research on introducing Hannah to the idea of having a little sister and will report back on that soon.
